Yeah, that's a solid point, especially if you look at evidence that witness recall, even when temporally very close to an incident, it highly suspect. I get that there's a legitimate reason for such laws to exist, but in this context particularly, there needs to be some reform. Women under-report this kind of crime…

If I recall correctly it's really short in California, like 10-15 years, as in a victim has that long to accuse the person; if they don't, the case can't go forward. So this trial would have probably been on by now if the initial accusations could be considered, but since the charges were about things that occurred…

It's taken this long at least in part because of statute of limitations laws on accusing someone of sexual assault. At the very least we can hope that this will help get some of those laws removed or amended…
