A band is no longer a band without their lead singer. And there isn't a lead singer who is as Talented as Mr. Stipe and don't forget it. You tell me another singer in a band who can connect with the person in the very last row of the auditorium and make the person feel like they are in the front row.

I never heard of Kelly or his band until I saw this headline on FB. I won't even bother giving them a listen. Most bands can't live up to what R.E.M. has accomplished, even if they might sell more records then them or sell their concert tickets quicker. But though Stand may seem like a silly pop song if you think about its simple lyrics it has a huge meaning. The song's message basically is to stand up for yourself. Or to stand and just really open up your eyes and take a look at your surroundings. What is it you see that really could use a change.
