Note that she talks about how the illusion that you can have it all - be a mother, run your own business and a home. This is a perfectly valid comment, and makes sense on the surface. But consider that Peggy is not a mother and does not run her own business. Then it starts to sound

I don't think it's a cop-out. This, along with so many entries in the Coen universe is about fundamentally decent people caught in a maelstrom of chaos. To get to the core of the characters, that chaos needs to be at least partially unknowable and with no clean 3 act structure, as that is how we really experience of
