The way I see it, a movie that's simplistic, morally questionable, or dull is those things whether it is or claims to be historical, while a complex, morally edifying, entertaining movie is those things whether it is or claims to be historical. It just doesn't enter the equation for me, even as an almost-historian.

OK, and that bothers you because you consider it deception. I can understand that. It doesn't bother me, because I think that anyone looking for facts even in comparatively accurate historical movies is going in with the wrong motivations, but I understand where you're coming from.

Take the skinheads bowling, take them bowling.

Many thanks. Please carry on. Off I go to catch up on last week's chapter.

Is… is this a new thing? Have I been missing this on previous threads? This is… I… what is happen.

My cooler younger sibling introduced me to the book "The Once and Future King" by TH White. Beautiful book that he was assigned in middle school when I was "too old" for it. In reality, it's every bit as much for adults as kids, if not more so. It touched off a huge Arthur kick for me when I finally read it.

To be fair, these are not obvious spoilers for someone who hasn't finished the series.

The Odo-Kira shark was jumped for me during the takeover of the station arc when Odo seemed to shrug Kira off in favor of the female Changeling, and then went back on that without any real explanation a few episodes later. It's like he was brainwashed for a few minutes and then it wore off. That whiplash status quo

I'd like to understand your criteria for what period piece films to finish and which ones to turn off. Is the criteria really related to their accuracy? Speaking for myself, I'm a Ph.D. candidate specializing in 20th century U.S.-Asian relations and working on my dissertation, and I don't give a crap about the

"Chimera" feels to me like another shot at the story that had already been shot at by the episode with the baby changeling and the episode with the baby Jem'Hadar. A creature kinda like Odo shows up, takes over Odo's life for a few days, and then leaves. I'm not sure why, but there's something boring about that

My introduction to Astaire/Rogers came when I was a teenager, studying for the SAT, and going stir-crazy trying to memorize mathematical formulas. I finally threw the book aside and went to a TV and started flipping channels, landing on TCM (or maybe AMC in its pre-commercial days) and finding a marathon of them.

On my recent character, I got to level 93 completely solo with no issues, and I didn't accumulate a bunch of unfinished fellowship quests along the way, though some still do exist. There were some old instances for 3 or 6 people in the early areas, namely the Great Barrow, that still exist, but they merged them with

Yes, in particular you can easily solo the entire epic. For parts that used to require groups you now get a temporary stat buff while on that chapter. I have thoughts about the most fun areas to level in from a lore-lover's perspective if you're interested!

I agree on Skyward Sword, and I found the game a real slog. I guess I'm glad I finished it, but don't put it high on your list.

First my background with the game: I've been around since near the beginning, but in a very on-again, off-again way. I still love tooling about in the Shire and other early areas, and that more than anything keeps me around. Well, that and my Tolkien obsession. I'm not really a fan of the MMO format, though, and

When I clicked on this, I figured it would be about "Powers of Ten."

It's quite recent, so my answer is immediate and certain: The "epic battle system" tutorial for LOTRO's Helm's Deep expansion. Hands down.

He's just making fun of shallow people who get off on lipstick lesbians. It's fine.

I have to disagree with you on Enterprise. I rewatched it all last year for the first time since it aired, and before starting I was excited about it and ready to come away with the opinion that it was underrated. Unfortunately I found it even worse than I'd remembered, aside from Trip's excellent arc. It was

I don't get why Classic Trek reviews are ending… aren't these articles well-trafficked? The next two series are crap, yes, but we'd all visit them and comment on them, right?
