so why did russian dude note the handcuffs when he came back for his gun early on?

i want to believe my theory that pettigrew was the first person infected, BUT did anyone notice in the coming-next-week-scenes during the end credits that they showed elena having sex while reaching for a knife?
that sort of blows a hole in the idea that pettigrew was a zombie that shambled in and started attacking…

yeah, technically it probably would make more sense if it was actually elena who "killed him", since that would make dan more likely to try and cover up what happened out of puppy-love.

he attacked elena, as infected people are wont to do, and dan saved her.
then a string of bad decisions lead dan to figure disposing of
pettigrew's body by polar bear made the most sense.
