I see what you are saying. To me, he wanted more sons… I have no doubt that he loved Lagertha, but had to pursue that goal above all else. We look at such things through a very different lens today.

Remember Lagertha came to Ragnar's aide to rid Kattegat of Jarl Borg, I can't imagine he wouldn't return the favour.
I agree, that should have been a significant moment for both characters. Instead it felt really contrived and non-climactic.
It is Þorunn (Old Norse), not Porunn. You think she's developed? Can you tell me where she's from, or any of her history at all? I don't dislike her, and I get that you like having a fierce woman as a character, but you can't really believe her character has any depth or development.
Thorunn? I think she's a very boring, undeveloped character so far
