It's the only "real" science fiction film. Cutting even a moment of it is blasphemy.

I first saw it projected on a gigantic screen in 70mm with what was then top-of-the-line stereophonic sound — hell, what am I saying? New digital releases today don't sound that good. But today even my fairly decent home system is puny in comparison.
