what I want to know is how they're running low on ammo when everyone, including the children and a pregnant woman, can apparently pull off a headshot in their sleep. I like this show but it is so ridiculous sometimes.

as Handlen said, having less dialogue helps a lot. this show does a really good job with visuals - that burnt-out house that Andrea and Shane walked through last season comes to mind.
