Kids fave without a doubt Duck Soup. No fat in that one. I'd say funniest opening scene ever, also my older daughter lost it when all the cavalry, stampeding animals, etc, came to the rescue at the end. Me, Horsefeathers, with Monkey Business a very close second if not tied.

Ha I forgot about that line. It really is amazing that he always had the right retort at the right time. If only someone would collect them in a book or something…

Come on that was Thelma Todd, they aren't gonna drown Thelma Todd! I would be surprised if that was the last scene with her… Even if it was, in all my viewings of that movie it never occurred to me she would be left for gator meat…

Upvote for sharing classic movies with your progeny! Mixed with all the modern noise out there they get plenty of, I do try to get my daughters to see the classic comedians. Both my 10 and 14 year old are Chaplin, Keaton and Marx fans now. Note - I am only letting them see the Marx Bros movies up to Day at the

Was there a scene in any Marx bros movie where all of them attacked a woman? Ogling maybe but attacking? I remember Harpo chasing a dame around a bed and some inappropriate wrestling, maybe that was in Duck Soup, but she fought him off…?

Charlie Chaplin was 'likely' Jewish as well, some controversy on that. Everyone back then tried to hide it (think George Gershwin, original name Gershowitz). But not the Marx Bros. First line out of Grouchos mouth in Horray for Captian Spalding was 'Did someone call me Schnorrer', in your face Yiddish , look it up!

'Endless aggression and violence toward women'… Really? Been a Marx bros fan since age 11 (70s), never got that sentiment embedded in me. Remember the scene in Horsefeathers with Groucho and the dame in the canoe (one of my fave Marx bros scenes of all time)? She does end up in the water… But she had it coming!

I'm one episode through. Combination of Independence Day, Day the earth stood still… And Under The Dome, its Barbie V2.0. It's not bad its not great … And like Under the Dome I feel compelled to see it through. But Charles Dance as the alien is pretty cool… I am glad SyFy network is being more ambitious…

Yes for Southern Bastards! Binged this series in October. Brutal is just the start…

Hmmm… Beatles… Beat-les… Beetles.

This weekend I have the opportunity to get thru some of the backlog Turner Classic Movies in the DVR. Tonight an entirely charming British heist movie called League of Gentlemen. As a big fan of 50s and 60s heist movies … Unlike the Brad Pitt Ocean movies you youngins were raised on… These never ended well, always

Cool. I watched Soylent Green earlier this year with my Geek in Training 14 year old daughter. She had heard the Made Of People reference at school so was game to see its origins. I saw it years ago and remembered it being kinda boring and was worried my daughter, big fan of faster paced modern sci fi fantasy fare,

No , ya see, there's so much love for Fury Road everyone has a different favorite scene so this is me bein clever by saying the whole movie is one big awesome scene and… Aww nuts, trying to justify a bit means it's already dead, big Charlie Brown sigh…

Cool I just watched Orson Welles 1948 Macbeth, DVRd on TCM, last week. It's filmed like a horror movie ie the witches are Awesome, a few slow patches but highly recommended, I'll have to see this version to compare…

My mom in law loves The Good Wife. Soapy with patina of class. And 6 seasons to catch up on!

Deadeye must be related to Philip K. You know, those later books no one can read. And he was kind of a…

As hard as I'm sure they tried for it not to be… That Barnes and Noble spot with Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett singing this song merrily in a spacious bookstore… is CREEPY AS HELLLLL!!! Just me I'm sure.

Mind bending sci fi late at nite in under 8 minutes. Yea!

Call me old fashioned… And Old… But with my background as a teen under the influence of 70s era Mad Magazine… I love Spy vs Spy like I love my Women… Black and White and in Small Doses.

We've been over this. The best scene of the year is Fury Road THE ENTIRE MOVIE.
