The pace of this show has felt extremely quick this season, but a lot of the scenes they are rushing through would be battle scenes and they can't have just a bunch of blackwater/battle of the basterds episodes for an entire season. I didnt read the book, but I initially thought that perry; being janes rapist, was too big of a coincidence. I assumed she was drawing parallels between the man who attacked her and the violent abusive man perry was to further tie in the theme of abuse towards women (with janes being the worst example).
