There is a magic pregnancy plot in the book though. It just isn't like what they are doing here at all. Though they have been doing that. Changing the middle of the plot point but keeping the beginning and end the same or similar to the book.

That is why season one has (and currently still is) the best season, because narratively we had the Harmon family centered in the story, and all the other stories unfolded outward from that grounding.
