And for the sake of completeness, my homesickness-cure list of California songs:
It's the only one that truly captures the state from top to bottom, from Oakland to Sac-town, the Bay Area and back down.
Albert Hammond's "It Never Rains in California", which I should have known about already, but I learned of through Aquarium Drunkard's L.A. Burnout Compilation, which I completely recommend to fans, earnest or cynical, of Los Angeles.
Agreed! It really bums me out—that was my shortcut way to see a. which reviews had been posted, b. what i missed last night and c. unsurprisingly, what was on tonight.
My german/collie mix died the same way, at the same age, and it was so sudden. Diagnosis, then just a month later she died. It happened 8 years ago and I'm tearing up now thinking about it.
Her cover of that is just absolutely top-notch. That and Don't Forget Me are my favorite of her covers.
Maybe Sparrow was my top for years, but Star Witness overtook it in the last year or two. Calling Card from this new album is now a new contender.
She completely held her own with Rob Huebel and Tom Lennon on Comedy Bang Bang last week. Recommended!
It's watchable. Nowhere near as good as the first season, not quite as good as the second.

This last season was certainly its weakest, and I don't think it was just the result of them finally catching up to the invention of polyester. The 2012 season, though, remains one of the best, against all expectations.
No, Skyler's gonna die by her own hand or no one's.

@Charlotte_Grote:disqus Liked partly for your brilliant lyrics, mostly for your username.
I've just finished Big Data, which was excellently written and thought-provoking. Now I'm onto The Murder of the Century, which I like as an interesting approach to writing narrative non-fiction.
I like Assassin and Handmaid's (or did in high school), but I read Oryx and Crake recently and didn't like it at all. Felt unimaginative and overwrought. Use info that as you will.
I think it's just a hipster name
