Henry!!!

Funny that breaking the back of some poor lab schmuck is just a days work for the Jennings but seduction and infidelity is so difficult to stomach.

Is Joan behind the Shinwell attack? She knew right where Sherlock was and Shinwell only attacked Sherlock (he could have done it at his apt) after Joan found out about the recording (and after her monologue about lesser of evils…and we know that she has been approaching "the line" lately)

oh a bee! of course! (just went back to read the review) seems like a lot of fan service in this episode.

"Do NOT take chalk!"

Gene Wilder!!!

what was on Joan's scarf when they visited the Professor? Looks like fancy licorices. Does it match her blouse?

In so many of its decisions, this episode seems different. A suspect who is a 14 year old female computer nerd and a rich black man with anger issues who has his life changed by building houses in Haiti? It almost feels like a new person is on board or in charge.

Really liked Joan's beetle pin when she was interrogating Kashgar. Add this to the cats and the cranes. What's going on?

I loved it when Sherlock came home to freaky stuff happening in the brownstone and Joan walks by with a swagger and the computer nerd gazes at her admiringly. The scene was a clever way to provide a summary for the viewer while giving fan service by spinning a trope on its head.

really neat acting note for Shinwell to sort of hide in the cubby of his apartment with his back to the wall as Sherlock questions him.

what's the coin stuck to Sherlock's lapel when he meets Shinwell? I haven't noticed it before.

I'm really struck by the lighting in this episode. really bright lights coming from weird angles and shadows. There was one scene in the brownstone where we saw Joan's back out of focus when the camera was on Sherlock. Joan is doing some weird puckering of her lips that I've never seen her do. In another scene the

I need to re-watch but I'd be totally psyched if one episode it was on the other arm.

is this a different director or cinematographer? the shots seemed to be set up differently. the opener really like Lucy act charismatically. Sherlock was sort of blank but Joan's eyes were speaking volumes.

with the cats from last week and the flying black cranes on pale salmon this week, Joan has been wearing a lot of prints.

I was a bit miffed that they didn't give Martha more for the finale but I realized the offhand comment about refusing to unionise was a complete story in a sentence and was perfectly composed for her character. It felt like fan service that precisely matched her role and anyone who had been following the show would

what were they talking about?

exactly!
