YES.
YES.
No one should ever read Philippa Gregory. I fixed that for you.
You mean white women are sitting down to the table. I love this show and LOVE Alex and Kara, but my god it reeks of white feminism right down to the whitewashing around Maggie being played by an Italian, Cat's constant white feminism, and the diminishing of James in S2 and the virulence I see displayed about him in…
Brown people aren't here to hit gimmicky ~diversity~ marks. Personally, do not like being used like this especially on media that's already shown that other than a Brazilian nearly white passing actor playing Veronica, they've done zero to shade their POC characters. I wish I could properly articulate why this bothers…
I kinda agree because I loooove the adult interpersonal dynamics but I'm not so hot on the business side of what precipitates those dynamics.
I did dual enrollment at the local CC my junior and senior years so I just got to skip either what would've been my first period and come to school at 9 instead of 7 or leave school early. I love sleep and I had extracurriculars so I always chose the first option. Thinking back on it, I could've chosen my free period…
The one WOC's background is undercut. I'm never surprised.
I loved all the women going after Perry to protect Celeste, but I felt dissatisfied with the Perry is Jane's rapist aspect of it. IIRC, and it's been a while since I've read the book, but he admitted to it there and I think he was unapologetic.
Supergirl's treatment of James was terrible - the way they treated James and Kara/James fits into patterns. But I don't get how Kara being an immigrant is racist. Did they say something specifically or is just that the EPs think Kara is an immigrant, which she is?
I grew up around people who did explode into violent anger, so I got real used to mollifying situations so not to trigger any violence. I loved that scene too.
Rich white women. I am a WOC socialist, and I am way more interested in this show than The Affair. I also loved the book Big Little Lies is based on. And yeah, the chick lit pejorative thrown at women centric material is sexist. But, this genre almost always focuses on white women from middle to upper middle class…
It really was. I always end up hating the kids who're fought over. *remembers redhead Michael on GH and how everyone from mob hitmen to rich bio fam wanted him and how I hated that kid*
Actually, not taking it out of the family and making alliances with enough great houses in the recent century is what screwed the Targs. That and the insanity. *puts nerd hat on* Maester Aemon's brother's kids all married for love or didn't want to marry ladies; they broke the engagements made for them, angering…
I thought SV Clark was the most flawed live action Clark there ever was, like they constantly harped on his mistakes, yes, even outside the red K episodes. They took Clark to dark and unflattering places like his conscious choice to put on the red K ring in S2 (?), his selfishness in turning back time in 5x12 that…
Man, you're making me remember what a pill nu52 Superman was.
Betty/Veronica especially in the show still >>>>>
She can't die in a plane crash this time!
(I cried on the inside during Supergirl pilot when Kara saved Alex from dying under the wing of a plane).
I mean, they're clearly hinting at Juggie/Betty, but might I recommend they go with Betty/Veronica which is good and true and pure? Or my secret trash ship of Reggie/Betty that I'll pimp forever because I read that comic where Reggie and Betty went out on a date and hit it off so much but decided to not pursue…
Reggie's one of my favorites from the comics and I like what the actor's done in the little they've given him. So, it has been disappointing that Reggie hasn't gotten more play.
Juggie's always stuck up for Betty when Archie's cavalier about her feelings. So while I'm not a fan of Juggie/Betty as a couple (Ace! Juggie, Betty/Veronica or my secret trash ship Betty/Reggie are more preferred), I like that their relationship is built here.
