Ok but I don't see why her initial resistance couldn't just be the shorter 'not here!' and not actually trying to fight him off.

Maybe? But I really doubt it. Hard to come back from that one. Especially after displaying an astonishing lack of consistency.

He's one of the only characters in the entire series who learns empathy. The show just totally squashed that.

I guess people being into it is beside the point. The issue is the glamorization, which I think sucks, and I know I'm not alone in thinking that. It was ugly, yes, but it was also glamorized. That's probably where our disagreement is. I don't think it can really be proved either way without a long essay.

Ugh I know, it's such a bummer. Jaime was one of my favorite characters in the books. And in the show up until now. I seriously don't understand why everyone keeps explaining this away with 'no, he's always been awful.' He's like the major redemptive character in the entire series.

As far as the Cersei scene, I guarantee there are many people out there who were into it. And kinda like the article was saying, it just doesn't make any sense for the characters- much like Dani's situation in the show didn't make sense.

They way she took charge in the show didn't make any sense- she's being raped by this dude, she definitely hates it, then goes to her handmaiden and asks her how to please him? What? In the books, she finally responds to Drogo's overtures, and it sucks for a while, and then she asks her handmaiden how to please him. I

Resisting and ultimately succumbing sexual entreaty is a very common rape fantasy, regardless of the amount of skin being shown.

Yeah, I totally agree that her navigating her sexual relationship with Drogo was a point of strength for her, but in the show they made it an extended period of time of him just forcing himself on her, rather than being pushy but not all out raping her. He gets all irritated that she keeps saying 'no', and he's pushy,

whoaaaa, am I out of my fucking mind? Seriously? Yeah, I guess getting perved out by rape scenes makes me out of my fucking mind. Ok. Those scenes were definitely designed to be arousing, and I suggest you consider trying to watch with the perspectives of others in mind before calling someone out of their fucking

Both show men overpowering women who eventually succumb and 'enjoy' it.

I don't really see how you can watch those scenes and not see that they are explicitly designed to be 'sexy'. Rape is not sexy.

ho-lee shit, these comments are something else.. 90% of yall either didn't read this article or somehow still don't get it. Creating a fantasy rape scene is problematic any way you spin it. Both Drogo's and Jaime's are fantasy rape scenes. They creepily almost perfectly mimick rape fantasies that real rapists actually

So is like, Riverdance hipster? I'm lost
