I'd say the tone does lighten a bit after the second episode. Bad Beginning Part Two disturbed me the most; I almost stopped watching even though I found it quite funny. After that I found the rest of the season easier to handle.

Good Lord, how has Mrs. Drewe not yet figured out that Edith is Marigold's mother? You'd think her husband would tell her, but he's probably exasperated by how obvious it should be.
