Gaaah! Beat you by four minutes.  Great minds, etc. etc.

WE'RE the aliens, man.  We're the savages.

Absolutely.  Tell me that if you turn the channel and see that this movie is on, you are able to change the channel again until it's over.  Go ahead.

Boy, you wouldn't even know what to do if you HAD gotten there.

Olive13: see, for example, the end of Six Feet Under.  Allowing each of these characters we've come to know and care about to have their own individual grace note is what makes it work, in that one and in the Lost finale.  It's getting dusty in my office, all of the sudden.

That's a good point you make, that the cliffhangers really don't matter when you watch the eps back to back - or at least, when the resolution of that cliffhanger is some bullshit cop out, it doesn't bother you nearly as much as it did if you've been waiting for a month to see whether Sawyer is really dead or

I'm with you.  And I really loved the finale, as well.

I agree, mratfink, that watching a bunch of episodes back to back smooths over some of the episodes - and there's no doubt Lost had a shitload of them - where not much "happens" in the way of advancing the plot, but at the risk of missing those smaller character beats.  A lot of people were constantly frustrated by

I'd be very interested to see this principle applied to Lost.  As someone who watched it in real time, I believe that the thesis of watching-as-it-unfolds, with the requisite breaks between eps and seasons discussed above, lent gravity, depth and character to a show that was otherwise could be seen, when watched in

I get the point of this piece, but it sure seems an awful lot like an excuse for Phipps and everyone else to just brag about how many awesome shows they've seen, Phipps' disclaimer about "not boasting" aside.  I get it! You're all awesome!

I bet you all are big Lee Marvin fans.

I agree.  I also like the Jacoby episodes, too, for the awesome snarky discussions of The Challenge.

So excited about both this and the new Grizzly Bear album.  I loved Veckatimest, but I actually prefer Yellow House and some of the DoE material better.

I might be the only Firefly fan who doesn't care for Jaynestown.  It comes off a little too precious and corny for me.  The Train Job, on the other hand, I love, but I think it's pretty tough to say Out of Gas isn't the best.

Especially since they played it live during the tour (or, at least, when they played in Chicago).

Yes, yes it was, and Seann William Scott is not bad in it.  He's not bad in his cameo in Old School, either.

DON'T BLAME THE FLESHLIGHTS!

We can't find love
Cause love is in our hands
Wiiiith the maaaan…

As I sad above (below?  Goddam Disqus!) The Switch actually isn't that bad.

Agreed.  I also thought that movie he did with Jennifer Anniston where he switches his baby-batter for her donor's was actually, surprisingly not that terrible.  Ditto Horrible Bosses.
