The show has turned into one giant string of parallels these last two episodes. I used to LOVE the way they used parallels, but they only work if you're moving FORWARD. You want to see how far they've come, not be slapped in the face at how obvious it is they backtracked. Isn't it just a circle now? If all they

Actually, the writers are making a point to say they want to stick to the standard tv formula. I only see it going downhill from here, especially if they try to convince me that Nick and Jess would still live together.

Well, since we see them following standard tv formula now, at least we know what's next. Now comes the "filler" part that you always skip through when you re-watch the series, because you know they end up together anyway. :::sigh::: How exciting. I SO thought this show was going to be different, but I'm already

I don't understand the direction they're taking the show, and it's not giving me a compelling reason to return in the fall. I'm usually so excited to re-watch episodes over the summer, but now I feel like maybe all that I've seen so far was almost a lie.

This first episode was okay, but if they don't make a very clear distinction between "couple" Nick and Jess, and this new version…….what was the point of the break up? It's going to be almost impossible, because they were never "just friends" anyway. It's not believable to me at all, and in real life you would never

There needs to be a very clear distinction between "couple" Nick and Jess and this new "broken up" version. For me that's not being shown yet. Honestly, since they never really were "just friends", I don't know if they can ever really go back on this one. I'm certainly not buying into any of it unless someone moves

The break up was odd, at the end of an episode with meticulously placed references/quotes to every episode from Cooler through Fired Up. I'm still wanting to hear some explanation on Mars Landing…….

I completely understand about the N/J thing. All they had to do was say they broke up and now they're talking about feelings and being supportive best friends again? It's very confusing. I wish they could have just continued to write them like this when they were "officially" together.

What was stopping them from continuing to write them as the supportive best friends WHILE they were together? I just want to smack these writers. That last scene is exactly what makes good relationships/marriages last. What about them putting a title on them as a couple, made them feel like they needed to inject

This is the exact reason why I've struggled watching this show. I really WANT to love it. I SHOULD love it, the humor is great. But I never really know what I'm watching half the time, because the next episode they'll forget everything they just showed and start from scratch.

Why can't comedy writers write humor into couples, without trying to pull it from contrived drama?!? And why do they insist that it belongs in a show that's supposed to be FUNNY? Is it really THAT hard? These aren't real people, you have complete control over their actions/words. I just can't wrap my head around

The episode was……….weird. Did anyone catch the sheer number of references and quotes to other episodes? I noticed a few funny things on Tuesday, and then I went back to re-watch and there are just SO MANY things.

I hate the idea of either lead losing screen time, or for the show to have split story lines all the time, or for one of them to move out. All of which would actually HAVE to happen now, if the show stays true to their "organic" movement. They never WERE "just friends", I don't know what they think they're going

The obvious parallels to Cooler were downright cruel. I felt like they were trying to bookend the entire thing and somehow poke fun at it and say it was a mistake. Cooler DROVE the popularity of this show last season, and even if it struggled a little this season, it wasn't Nick and Jess that did that. To almost

Right? They were upset that their completely imaginary futures weren't the same? Fundamentally, they were identical, it was just all the crazy, drunken asides they added that didn't make any sense, because well………THEY DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. They both want to get married and have kids (they even imagined it WITH

I do miss the Nick and Jess/whole loft against the world scenarios. Why did they always have to be at odds with EACH OTHER this season? And then to top it off, there were soooo many guest stars too. If they worked together so well as a team before, why couldn't they just keep doing it as a couple with a few

Part of me feels like everything they showed us with them the entire season was some sort of lie. Yeah, I'm being over dramatic, but the entire way it snowballed in just this episode alone was………dumb. Yeah, they had problems, but those underlying problems weren't even discussed as PART of the breakup. Not really.

So sad, because Nick and Jess were the one thing that we COULD count on this season. :-(

It would have been less painful if at the end of the season, Winston woke up from a badger bite-induced delirium and this entire year was just a dream, ala "Dallas". If they were going to break them up, at least make it believable. And at the VERY least, show them having real problems BEFORE they just decide to

I agree. It makes it sound like she's doing something wrong. They showed Jess with Russell, so why not Cece with someone 12 years younger?
