That's true. I was just using it as an example of fields that are there and Apple has not explored. A better DAC would already be an awesome thing to expect from new players.

That is true, I even converted my FLAC collection to ALAC just so that it would sync everything automatically to the iPod. I'm sure some other options will come up though. jRiver comes to mind.

I got mad at first, but now I think it's a good thing. It leaves the space open for other players who give a damn about sound quality and not just "slickness". It will grow a market for them and they'll release better products.
