Patrick, do you think this is a good mix of enthusiast fun and everyday livability? Imaging someone with a boring daily driver and a hardcore sports car that wants something fun, but could also be driven for 6 hours in a day without pulverizing a spine. Basically, I'm asking, is this a sports car that can imitate a GT

I can't believe I never saw this before! Thank you

I think there are several of us who would own one for years before wondering why we bought a car just for this gimmick!

Jump out of planes!

You're far too concerned about making a decent car. Speed and fun at all costs (says the Lotus owner)

Have a Lotus, can confirm.

Are you a troll or just too opinionated to realize that a $41k car with a 93 mile range IS innovative?

The i3 is not a glorified Prius! It's extremely innovative, bringing a CFRP chassis to a much lower price point than ever before. I generally don't like BMW but they did something amazing with the i3. Yes, the XL1 is amazing in other ways, but it doesn't have the potential to radically change the marketplace like the

The i3 doesn't ask the user to change how they use their cars, other than plugging it in occasionally. The XL1 requires great sacrifices in practicality, space, number of passengers, etc. That's why the i3 is a better fit for the award.

You can actually buy the i3 in many countries and use it as a normal car.

No, that's entirely true. They don't hate creating jobs (what politician honestly wouldn't want to create jobs for their constituents?)

In for all the older generations talking crap as if the generations before them hated them any less.

Still hate it.

If it looked like, say, the Maserati Ghibli or something equally beautiful and exotic, I'd love it. This is why I have a cheap DD and a nice second car.

My car randomly stalls pulling up to lights because of that awesome Lotus quality... No less embarrassing, especially in a car that looks like that.

You know you're vastly oversimplifying the Venom, right? I'm not suggesting the level of engineering is even close between these two. It's obviously two entirely different classes of engineering. But both fit their original designs, and were engineered accordingly.

There's also the option of the next gen Mustang, which looks much nicer and will be ever closer in performance.

It's a practicality question now. If I wanted another 2 seater, the Corvette with tons of options is an incredible value. If you need back seats, the M4 is likely the sharpest tool in that price range.

Sounds like you have a great plan for it. Good luck and enjoy!

The Katana2 is an excellent kit that shouldn't destroy a stock engine for a very long time.

So far my car has only done 14k miles, all on the street, so the engine isn't being pushed for long even with a large 10 psi running through it. I just hope it lasts a few years, long enough for me to overbuild a spare engine
