Not segregated. Safe. We wouldn’t need our own spaces if we felt welcome and secure in mainstream spaces, or we hadn’t been excluded from them in the past (which is why black fraternities and sororities exist, for example).

I fail to see how this is segregation. It is a magazine about black hair, which by fact and science is very different from European hair in most ways. There is an entire art to managing and styling black hair. I’m black and I still have no skills when it comes to my natural hair.

That shows how very little you understand about black hair.

I really don’t think she had a need to apologize. She didn’t model for the magazine and doesn’t own the photo. She had nothing to do with its use.

I don’t see why she had to apologize to begin with. That picture is old and was used without her knowledge. It wasn’t FOR the magazine. They just paid for the rights to it. It’s the magazine’s fault.
