Had a bunch of Fisher Price toys growing up, from camping/canoeing sets to safaris to a helicopter. The figures were about the same size as Star Wars and GI Joe so the vehicles were used in all sorts of adventures.

The first Halloween is a classic and has very little onscreen violence. The second is, I think, unfairly maligned...I haven’t seen it in a while but I remember it being rather relentless (think Alien vs. Aliens). The third is barely a horror movie, but you really should watch it during this season, just to get a

Man I love this movie. It would be remarkable just for its frankness - there are a lot of emotions at play, but everybody seems candid and loving throughout the movie (which did strike me as fundamentally Canadian). But there are also so many wonderful insights and turns of phrase - Polley recognizing her “gummy grin”

The Amazing Goiter-Man.

They literally made the change for technical reasons... That’s a huge thing that so many people are missing.

Really... no side by side in the article? Guess I’ll make one.

I grew up a close friend with Macon Blair, the star of this film. He is, without a doubt, one of the smartest, funniest and kindest people I had the pleasure of knowing. It’s amazing to watch him and Jeremy Saulnier fulfill dreams that were very much alive in them as kids.

Even though the film is overlong and did start to test my patience once it got to the high school, I think it makes what are mildly weird/creepy details from the book something far more unsettling and almost unbearably uncomfortable. I can’t think of the last film that felt so

COVID isn’t the only raging pandemic. Trump’s right wing dementia seems to be contagious. Who’s next, Dennis Miller?

I get the reason why. Why cast pretty people if you are gonna make them wear helmets. So just hand wave away shit with a “force field” for the head and be done with it

But that’s a standard of sci-fi. Star Wars, Star Trek, Guardians of the Galaxy...
