All the bright work seems to make it less sporty. The base model looks like a RS grille which is blacked out vs a S model with all the aluminum. It looks like the TTS grille has more metal compared to other S models too.

I'm driving a 2002 WRX wagon, 96k, original clutch. I did put a OEM 20 mm rear sway bar on, because understeer. Has the SPT short shift kit and titanium shift knob since new. Being owned by my now 60 something mother and being kept in West Teaxas it's entire life hasn't hurt.
If you like chintzy switchgear, and ceiling lights out of an '80s kitchen renovation, then by all means it's higher quality.
I guess Clarkson isn't aware that those greatest hits of Europe and Japan all came about from GM. Delphi and GM developed those fancy dampers, GMs have had heads up displays since the 80s, and cylinder deactivation technology was pioneered first (and not so sucessfully) by Cadillac.

All the urban hipsters I knew in DC bought A3 TDI, because parkable hatchback diesel.
It doesn't get driven often or far, restarting the car seems to alleviate the problem for now. Not a primary car anymore thankfully.

The Maxima SE is a much better choice than the Camry. They came in better colors, had bullet proof 6-cylinder motors, and were much easier to find with a manual transmission. Also 4DSC.
This is why I am against lifted trucks. Tons of them running around the LA area, and there is no reason for that to be road legal. Anything that alters the mandated bumper heights should be for off road use only.
