Paget Brewster is amazing and they should have had another three seasons with her in the cast.

EDIT: But yeah, we chortled heartily at that line. Animal Control is pretty anemic overall (McHale and Lovell are the only reasons I’m even watching it) but it’s a good premise and cast, and I wish it had sharper writing.

STOP SAYING JESUS WEPT!

Yikes. Ok, well, thanks for the info. A union president who shits on the efforts of other unions... oy.

Blech. Maybe we need to get a couple of the less-prominent unions (cinematographers? set decorators?) to get on the same schedule so that they can increase their collective power.

Just give me a god damn Wraith Squadron TV series.

And I doubt the Empire lasts long. It barely lasted maybe 5 or 6 years after the end of the Old Republic.

And if the show is done well, does it matter whether it mines existing canon? Andor mostly introduced completely new characters and settings, done really well. It also developed the hell out of Mon Mothma and Genevieve O’Reilly’s acting chops, and I didn’t hear any snarky complains about nostalgic pandering.

Agreed. It’s tricky because most people aren’t really aware of the surveillance capitalism model, and even if they are they don’t really understand it, and even if they do they can justify to themselves that it “doesn’t really cause any harm” and so it’s okay. This is mainly because the kind of harm is causes is

Well, yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of the pre-Musk era.

Yes, it is really a service. Yes, I am gaining something worth paying for. Not paying very much, mind you (a couple bucks a month is how much I’d be willing to pay, given my usage patterns), but... it costs money to run it, and I use it, so why wouldn’t I be willing to pay for it*?

Which is why there needs to be legislation (I know, good luck with that) to, ideally, outlaw that kind of data collection or at the very least make it strictly opt-in and optional (cannot be tied to providing the product or service).

I’d be happy to pay for Twitter if it meant 1) no ads and 2) they don’t collect personal info (the usual “surveillance capitalism” business model). It’s a service, it costs money to run, I don’t mind paying for something I find valuable (I don’t really post on Twitter much; I mainly use it to follow a double handful

Oh, you are too an alcoholic.

A recent interview on this very website.

There were tulips in the vase right next to where they were sitting! I guess maybe Dani someone wanted to see a tulip out in the wild, or something.

Think you used enough dynamite there, Butch?

Yeah! It could be a club, for those who are interested in the audiovisual arts. I think it should be called “The Pop Culture Gang.”
