I’m more interested in the idea of having a tail for when walking after a few too many drinks. The idea of having the tail for extra balance or “tripod” action is intriguing.

The book was definitely better than the movie. I was pretty disappointed with the film when I finally watched it some years after reading the book.

This, exactly this. There have been several people who have done incognito van living just for this reason. And that's just the people who *wanted* to live in their van.
