I just went to the original Reddit post, and my take here was far less critical than most of the ones there.

As others mentioned, a big pile of rocks at the start of the road in, as a test, would likely discourage most of those with inappropriate cars.
They know how to use Reddit, and have a phone with all of the world’s information available at their fingertips. What else has to be done to help protect people from themselves?
2nd Gear.
At least when you buy an aftermarket ‘chip’ to raise the boost in an ICE vehicle, you might get a fancy box to go along with it. A software download seems like a very unsatisfying way to buy an upgrade, particularly when it could have easily come that way from the factory.
How do you make a small fortune in racing?
Start with a large one.
So the EV market will be like BestBuy now?
The rule likely came about to keep tradespeople from parking their work trucks in the driveway....back in the day when that was the only reason people drove pickups.
I don’t like the Ranger. I’ve got a Taco with 6' bed, but would actually like better fuel economy and a lower riding truck. I need 4Wd for snow, not for rock crawling.
Almost the perfect truck?
Thanks for doing the research for us! Isn’t the internet great? ;)
I’ve never looked at Tesla’s books, but Elon has many side hustles. Is the auto selling profitable? Or has the money really come from selling carbon credits and the charging network, among other schemes?

“Considering the 400-horsepower Nissan Z starts at $42,970, and the 486-hp 5.0-liter Mustang can be had for $42,460, the Supra is still a pretty hard sell to the enthusiast.”
“...he could purchase a new Model 3 every single day for the next 3,562 years”
Headline’s a bit harsh, no?
Many drivers buy their way into a seat. Lance just has access to the best way to do it. He’s no Alonso, but thankfully he’s also no Sargeant.
Seeing that VAG has Rimac under their umbrella already, adding Rivian tech should make for some good EV’s. If they have sunk costs into the Scout brand, then just run with it.
