Thanks for the reminder. My car is getting a lot of frost inside. I had a leak from the windshield last year but fixed it. The AC drain might be the culprit now.

You can add greenlighting the Aztek to GM’s list.

You gotta find an odd duck. Something that people will look at and say WTF as you have a big grin on your face. While you still have time to spend sourcing parts from obscure overseas vendors. As you say “...but I’m willing to learn the hard way”.
I’m thinking:

Funny, everyone calls ours a ‘chick car’.

I think the OEMs are realizing that electric car buyers don’t care about cars. Electric cars seem to be a commodity and just a way to delivery electronic toys.

Growing up with European immigrant parents meant mainly import cars in the family. I spent my formative years in a VW411 wagon. After that came a weird mix of small cars and trucks. A highschool buddy had a Chrysler Newport. Now that was a yacht. We could fit cross country skis sideways in the trunk!

As a counterpoint, they were chasing a shrinking slice of the market. Many in the sport-touring market were already moving towards Adventure Touring bikes, and since 2018 Adventuring has exploded even more.

“...car carrier will eventually end up at a recycling facility in Louisiana...” At least they’re creating jobs for Americans ;)  They could’ve just shipped the parts to Bangladesh for dismantling like many of the other ship owners around the world.

Why not this option?

I like the remote filter adapter idea. I’ll have to look it up.

OK, who has a hack for accessing (ie removing and installing) an oil filter on an NB Miata?

I’ll have to try that on my Tacoma.

Reading this makes me glad I ride/race motorcycles, both on and offroad.
Most everything about the Ginetta’s fabrication applies to sport roadbikes and particularly MX /Enduro race bikes (except of course the sealed cockpit). And the price.

All good points. I know battery tech is still in it’s adolescent stage, but hopefully the battery and vehicle manufacturers are all talking to each other about packaging and connectivity. A massive build-out of the charging network is required, regardless of battery tech, so swappable batteries could be another

I think that EV motorcycle makers need to agree on a standard battery size and format. Battery swap-out stations appears to be a good solution for low-capacity motorcycle applications.

How’s that song go?

Super Safety-car wars?

....saved $3,600 these last 30 years...” Of course the registration fee has only been $120 for the the last few years because, inflation and government sucking on the teat of drivers. Prior to 2011 the annual fee was about $70 and less the 20 years prior to that. Still the savings exceed the fine.

Yes, lifted pickup is the only answer. I lost count of how many I saw on the North Shore in just a few days. I though they were government issue...
