Maybe a small quibble, but describing deliberations as taking “just” 7 hours is kinda goofy. I have seen juries come back in 17 minutes to decide guilt/1st degree in an open murder, and then take less than 2 hours to sentence to death. So 7 hours is not really “just,” IMO.

The important difference is that if he pleads guilty, there is no civil trial. His conduct is proved by his guilty plea, so the lawyer for the plaintiff just points that out to the court and the only discussion left is damages (in other words, you are only talking about how much he owes, not whether he should be

More frequently “no contest” = I do not want to sign myself up for liability in a civil suit.

Agree, 100%. Was only pointing out logical/reasoning flaws in that argument, not taking any position against access to abortion.

It’s like that, but it isn’t the same. It’s the same as saying that a man can’t speak as passionately about childbirth as a woman can.

Anyway, I take the larger point that this isn’t the best time for me to make my points, but in fairness, this is an anonymous account, and I specifically said I didn’t want a medal, so

What, one feminist can’t tell another to fuck off?

If you want abortion to stop existing, then support legislation that would criminalize/outlaw abortions. What you’re supporting here instead is a bad law that makes lawful conduct difficult and expensive, and whose only result is causing women to spend more money or have abortions in an unsafe manner.

In other words,

Hey, next time you have five free minutes, take your “No man would bring this degree of passion to the case,” and go fuck yourself. Some of us are out here fighting these fights, and we don’t expect to get a medal, but I for one would like to do it without your derision, at least.
