I liked sopranos as much as the next, but the flimsy plots and writing at times like this episode shows, the show was fairly overrated, although in 1999 when it aired TV was pretty crap compared to it. Still excellent TV, but I think it's pretty overrated.

Teh Wire was the epitome, not sopranos. BB and the wire > Sopranos.
