I’m not sure how I’ve contradicted what you’re saying, other than to say I believe not everybody does understand it. I have at no point taken issue with a single argument that says a person shouldn’t care.

Being sent to prison, tried for rape and named and shamed on the global stage, perhaps?
I didn’t say it wasn’t apologia. It was an awful statement.
In an ideal, fair and just scenario this would be an easier question to answer as, theoretically, establishing if someone is suitable for a lengthy prison sentence rests on whether they are a) psychologically resilient enough to withstand prison without significant detriment to their health, b) likely to be harmed by…
Why don’t you say it? I bet it will be nuanced, sophisticated and not in the least bit offensive or repugnant.
Huh? You said ‘men and boys’, so yes, you did mean as a child. Of course men and boys need to be taught how to engage in sexual relationships ethically? How could you possibly think any different? How could anyone think any different? It’s a statement so entirely noncontroversial as to be completely humdrum: People…
Thanks! I’m getting called every name under the sun for stating a position that I consider to be, you know... the feminist one, and the informed one, and the one I’m used to hearing from people who work in abuse prevention. So I really appreciate the positive feedback I’m getting from some such as yourself. Thank you!
Tip: When attempting to argue a point with someone, be sure to make sure you’ve understood what they said. You’re trying to argue with me on the basis of claims I haven’t made. It’s a waste of both our time.
I’m in a rush out the door, so I’ll get to this later, but firstly, I too have PTSD from people like Brock Turner, or worse I would wager. You misunderstood my reasons for talking about PTSD, but I’m very sorry to hear about your experiences. I’ll respond in full at another time. Have a nice night.
Yes, I am. Where have you been the last several millennia?
you think we’re being too hard on rapists and treating them like monsters
Okay. Thanks. :)
Yes, I do know what it is. In his case, were he to be diagnosed, one would presume we were talking about PTSD from being jailed and charged and the focus of a media circus. There’s nothing controversial about saying a person in that condition could have PTSD and it’s not any kind of apologia for his actions. Thanks…
You’re not listening. I’m genuinely not interested. I read the first paragraph, then I shrugged and decided not to read any more.
That’s okay. If you wanted to tell me with what you take issue I’d be happy to listen.
Finally someone noticed. Sweet dreams, kiddo. ;)
You think my point was that he wasn’t a Republican? My point was that there are parents all over the country and the world who would respond as he has, regardless of political affiliation. But cool, I guess.
Haha, thanks. I’ll keep both points in mind. ;p
I’m beginning to think you may not be a person I should continue engaging with, or whose opinion I should care about, or whose supposed compassion for victims is anything I should take remotely seriously. I bid you farewell, on your toxic way.
Hahaha, well I think I got myself into trouble by pointing out the PTSD thing without bothering to explain why I was bringing it up. People have assumed, as a result, that I’m... I don’t know... saying rape is okay, or something. Whatever.
