Having an inflated sense of self-importance doesn’t mean having an inflated opinion of her writing talent.

Has Rowling ever boasted about being a great writer?
Whoever’s in charge needs to get a Clue.
Weirdly, Brin actually liked it.
The sad thing is that Rowling used to be like that: gave a lot to charity and had a low public profile. Hopefully Collins doesn’t follow her path.
And many are. Is Star Wars any less great because it had so many influences?
At least the Labour Party thinks she has power.
I still like a lot of his stuff despite all that. One thing I think is funny about The Andromeda Strain is that just after the pandemic started people were mentioning it as far as books about pandemics; the part I think is funny about that is that in the book only about 50 people died.
I read Earth Abides after my dad recommended it, but haven’t read The Stand.
I’m surprised they’re doing a pandemic show this soon after Covid.
I think she was a decent person. She gave tons of money to charity and, unlike someone like Cosby, she didn’t have any skeletons in her closet she would’ve needed to hide with a veneer of generosity, so I think her charity was sincere, especially since she wasn’t a publicity hound about it either.
You just fell into the sarchasm.
Is this a short lived Tina Fey sitcom? Because this is Great News!
For someone so mega famous she wasn’t much of a publicity hound at the height of her success. I think it started with the whole “wizards poop on the floor” type “revelations” before she went vocally transphobic.
I do think a lot of her critics are unintentionally feeding into her sense of self-importance by attributing to her vast power to shape people’s opinions.
What I really don’t like is when they try to use non sequiturs to confuse you so they can claim you just don’t understand their brilliant argument.
How many great works are truly original, though?
I notice two of the best players for the Warriors dynasty are nepos: Steph and Klay.
I think “nepo babies” aren’t as much of a concern in sports because we have statistics for that. Ken Griffey Jr. never had to fight off the nepo baby rep.
What I think is weird about him using the name Hill is that I think King is a common enough name that people wouldn’t assume he’s Stephen’s son.
