Anyone notice how neatly SNL history divides into 5-year periods? It seems like there's a major change every year ending with a 5 or 0. Rudnitsky better have a big impact to keep that streak alive.

What do you guys think of the Daily Show and Colbert books? I think America(the Book) is an absolute work of genius and still holds up(except for things like joking about how we've never had a black president). I think Earth(the Book) isn't as good but very good in its own right. I think that Colbert's books, while…
I actually liked the Doc's relationship with Seven, with him teaching her to be human in kinda the same way Kes taught him. I wish we'd been able to see how Kes and Seven would've interacted.
If we're talking about DS9 I think we gotta mention Garak, who was never a main cast member but who went from appearing once in season 1 to being a reliable bringer of the awesomeness.
I disagree with the idea that Kes was superfluous; I thought she was an interesting character and thought they should've gotten rid of someone else(Damn you, People magazine!).
Who would you have replaced him with in Die Hard and The Fifth Element?
I remember reading Harlan Ellison in The Glass Teat basically call Flip an Uncle Tom who sold out to The Man. Weirdly enough, one of his examples of a black comic who hadn't "deserted" his people was Bill Cosby.
As bad as Cosby's hypocrisy is, I think that we shouldn't make it seem as though doing horrible things is somehow less horrible if the person doing them isn't a moralizer(although I assume you were referring to how we view their work and not them as people). I think sometimes people excuse rock stars and others who…
The Gators or whatever their name is? Dunno, probably better than the Marlins.
I'm a Mariners fan, and they can't even be bothered to give us hope before crushing it.
You didn't see Back to the Future 2? Hey, they're 2nd in the wild card, it could happen for real!
I would call it a perfectly Romulan museum(pats self on back).
It's kinda weird that people remember Roots as being basically about LeVar Burton as Kunta Kinte when Kunta is in a little over half the miniseries and LeVar is only in the first third. After that Kunta is played by John Amos(who looks nothing like LeVar).
He was officially a regular cast member in seasons 4-6.
Anyone else been to the Science Fiction Museum? I've been there twice, and while I don't consider it mind-blowingly awesome I still think it's a pretty cool tribute to sci-fi and recommend you go if you're in the area.
I don't mind these jokes because I don't get the impression that Oliver looks down at Americans in general; I think he actually has a good deal of affection for America and is just as willing to make fun of his own country as ours. Bill Maher, on the other hand, really is that condescending.
Is season 6 gonna be on DVD?
Yes.
I don't really consider Stephen to be a satirist at his core. Even though he did a lot of great satire on the Report, I think the fact that he was playing a character helped a lot. I don't know if he could pull off the same level of cutting satire if he were just being himself. I think he's more of a comedic actor…
Speaking of still-existing '90s websites, the website for the Heaven's Gate cult is still up, I guess to serve as some sort of monument to human stupidity:
