Even though it’ll never happen, I’d like to see a return to Cronenberg’s weird early 80s Montreal setting.

Even though I was sold on this almost from the start, reading the interview has definitely reassured me that it’ll definitely live up to the hype. Those were all well-stated and thought out responses, and it’s obvious that the writers really put effort into making this a movie worthy on its’ own merits.
Then it comes to your preference of semi-obscure Japan-only titles.
I’ve never thought of Jake’s avatar as a robot, but essentially a cross-species clone type of thing.
The trailer manages to give off a Stalker vibe, though I’m sure it’s unintentional. I’m curious to check out the novels though.
I respectfully disagree, as Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, manages to very skilfully utilize Cage’s unhinged performance to create a truly good movie.
I won’t disagree that all of the sequels in both franchises have been of a VERY varying quality. However I do appreciate them always going a different route, branching out to different directors, and generally expanding the universe.
Even though Nintendo’s releasing more of these than they did with NES Classic, I still think it’s a collector’s item. I’m all for hacking consoles for the sake of practicality and piracy, but considering this isn’t going to be anyone’s first console or streaming device - why would you want to ruin a potential…
See if you can sell the other for just enough to get the Super Famicom Classic. I’ve always liked the latter’s design.
The thing is that while I’m sure SNES had a handful of shovelware games, it was otherwise full of classics of amazing quality. And even though I personally(and admittedly) have never gotten into Zelda, Metroid, and prefer Yoshi’s Island over SMW - I think their importance is greater than that of Super Mario RPG.
You’d think that a country who’s national debt surpasses its GDP by some 100 plus %, would be more welcoming to any industry that it can tax and regulate, as well as preserve a part of a culture that’s deeply respected abroad.
I feel like had this been any other show, it wouldn’t be getting as much scrutiny. But IMO, the first 2 episodes are significantly better than the pilots for any of the previous Trek series.
Barking up the wrong tree there, bud. HBO already has Westworld for “hard” sci-fi, and along with GoT (and whatever spinoffs come out), they’ve got their serious genre shows covered.
All I’m hearing is shitty klaxons and the kind of 3rd rate garbage they’d put on yet another isometric cyberpunk tactical RPG.
The best explanation for the lack of critical thinking in Russia today, is to think of it as a century-long case of Stockholm syndrome. With the Gorby-Yeltsin era as being a really bad dream.
There’s nothing about this show that sounds appealing, outside of perhaps the voice cast.
Not gonna lie - I would pay to see a movie done in the aesthetic of that 2nd video, but with better acting and higher production values, while also retaining that kind of sepia retro-futuristic vibe.
I think Seattle could be a really good stand-in for Neo-Tokyo as well.
I’ll probably get flak for this, but as a fan of the original manga and the anime - I do think that Akira could be adapted well, even with whitewashing (undesirable, but unavoidable with a US studio)
