There's just no actual story to the season. The episodes are good they're just not in service to anything.

It was a "costume." And he needs a flaw, other than thinking Kevin's worth his time, so he doesn't seem too "perfect."
Because Patrick was so open-minded? Even on the lovely date Patrick managed to scold Richie about seeing a psychic.
I feel really badly for the Dom character because he's gotten the biggest shaft once the writers decided to pursue the affair angle. Dom's character has barely had any more screen time than Richie this season. Even Eddie has more of a story than Dom.
I think that was what Kevin was supposed to represent in Patrick's life. At least how Haigh described him. An aspirational character who inspires him to be more "ambitious."
I also thought that last season they were leading Patrick down a path where he strikes out on his own. Gets away from always needing people to define him and tell him how to be the person they want him to be.
Hope, sure. I don't work for HBO so I don't know their thinking. But the show isn't building it's audience the way it did last season.
I remember watching the trailer for season 2 and it featured the actors all having fun on set. The only person who got an extended close up, at the end, was Russell Tovey, and Raul Castillo didn't even make the cut.
Richie's judgmental because Patrick was getting in cheap, drunken digs at the guy he's currently seeing because Patrick can't handle the fact that Richie appears to have acknowledged and moved on?
Except the movies were huge. And Legolas was played by Orlando Bloom. I really can't see a way that Patrick was not as familiar with Legolas as he was with a videogame character.
The actor who played James was Asian so Patrick assuming that someone of Asian descent who was clearly wearing a Legolas costume (even I recognized it and I hated the Tolkien movies) was actually an Asian character assumes a certain level of narrow thinking.
I'd love to see Frank come back, because the rehabilitation of Agustin needs some real conflict. Frank's the person who was most hurt by Agustin's crappy behavior, he needs to confront it to be fully rehabilitated.
Why? There's nothing in it for Richie not to be honest with Brady, so I think he would be upfront with Brady, so Brady wasn't uncomfortable around Patrick.
Yeah, Kevin wants the aspirational "accomplished doctor" boyfriend he can show to other people, like at the wedding. He wants to be a part of a couple people see as high-achieving.
Punishing was the wrong word but I do think the writers created a character that would be very easy to say goodbye to once it was deemed time for Richie to get back with Patrick. So we don't see a lot of Brady and what we do see is strident and a little dorky and has zero chemistry with Richie. He couldn't be more of…
We're not actually seeing Brady through Patrick's eyes, though. The show isn't written from Patrick's point of view. We're getting an essential view of Brady, so we won't get a more developed view of him, but his actions weren't filtered through Patrick. They were all Brady. And they were obnoxious and had zero…
He's only the intruder if Richie's supposed to keep himself off the market until Patrick realizes he wants to be with him.
Brady was Max from "Where the Wild Things Are," and I liked his costume because I love Max specifically because he's a willful little brat. Nothing darling or precious about Max. And it's why Richie was wearing a Wild Thing t-shirt. The t-shirt was as far he was willing to go with a costume.
As a team physician, John travels a lot, so Kevin's left to his own devices. And Kevin, when he's with John, plays the dutiful boyfriend. Hell, he even jumped out of Patrick's bed to call John for their evening talk.
Exactly. John's been kind of a prince. He's tall, handsome, well-educated, funny, charming, has curly hair, and has always been attentive to Kevin's needs.
