As a Puerto Rican, I have always been concerned about them veering into Magical Ethnic territory with Richie. Putting him up on a pedestal and asking us to "worship at his goodness" is no less demeaning to the character than if they'd made him a cholo or a gangbanger. Actually, Looking for a Plus One and Looking Glass establish their time frame quite nicely. There are two separate references to time, one in each episode, that lets us know when everything is taking place.
