How fecklessly you did conflate the Founding Fathers and Confederate generals, as if to insinuate my patriotism is a stalking horse for treason and racism. But statues of Founding Fathers were indeed dishonored, nowhere more infamously than in New York City.

I love America and I honor the Founding Fathers.

It’s been a bad few years for patriotic FDR Democrats like myself, but I’m seeing encouraging signs that Democrats are rediscovering patriotism. We still have a long way to go.

George Washington should never share a coin with anybody. An eagle is fine. It’s still Washington’s coin if it’s just an eagle on the other side. But if you put a person there, then it’s only 50% a Washington coin. That’s a demotion. Washington deserves better.

Yet another slap in the face to every American who reveres George Washington.

My fellow Democrats need to make a choice:

My values have stood the test of time. I’m content with them. Not only that, I feel I need to be EXTRA patriotic to compensate for all the badmouthing of America that I hear from fellow Democrats.

Get a good education, graduate, get a job in a company where you can gain some upward mobility, stay out of legal trouble, get married, have some kids, and do your best to save money. It may not be Nirvana in your lifetime, but eventually, wealth will build for your kids and their kids, and it will turn out better…

This may be an unfashionable thing to admit here, but in the past year and a half I’ve lost lifelong black AND white friends. Around the summer of 2020 many of them became outspokenly condemnatory of the Founding Fathers and America and we couldn’t reconcile our differences.
