It really should be a closed cockpit. This concept is good if a tire or large pieces comes flying at you, but what about small pies or a bar of metal etc. Will not deflect that. Plus a closed cockpit would be far more aerodynamic.

Regardless of the grip, they steering just fine and you wouldn't be driving excessive speeds so heavy braking would not be a problem. When setting up these extreme stances correctly, they drive just as well as any other car.

These spectators get what they wanted, and not suprised that there are deaths. their own fault for standing so close to the course. Maybe now the organization that runs the Dakar will start putting some rules down when it concerns spectators.
