Sonic Youth were able to make a living before the advent of streaming. Even their music could bring in enough money to justify being signed to a label

Pomplamoose is very commercial, click-bait music. If they're barely squeaking by, there is no room for more challenging, less commercial artists to make a living.

I don't think he's using 'pussy' in a pejorative sense. It's not really clear what he means, but it doesn't seem especially negative. (Except in the sense that black metal is meant to be negative.)
