You’re Wrong and You’re a Grotesquely Ugly Freak.
This was a lovely article to wake up to a Monday morning, I’m a longstanding Partridge fan but it was still a real joy to see someone express just why the character is so fascinating and fun.
The only part I’d disagree with is when it comes to The Day Today, and would have placed it in Intermediate Studies, admittedly…
I came here to say the same thing, I love Morrison’s run on the series and after the Titans episode had low expectations, but it’s been an enormous amount of fun and packed with moments I never thought I’d see in a superhero tv show. So if anyone’s even considering watching it I’d recommend it a huge amount, and I…
Without my glasses I read “Eddie Van Halen...he was also a renowned butler” and will now forever be sad that it wasn’t the case.
That’s not true though, if you’re vaccinated you might be fine, but a small percentage still suffer from Long Covid and there are still deaths among those who are fully vaccinated. Also, what about those with autoimmune diseases who either can’t take the vaccine or are more prone to serious illness or even death? And…
I’m expecting a sod load of stories like this to start appearing when it comes to tv and films made in the UK, the vaccination process may be going well (and I’m relieved to have had both jabs personally) but it’s pure insanity that we’re lifting the restrictions on Monday when there’s 50,000 + infections per day, and…
I really like Sophia Di Martino elsewhere (she’s particularly fantastic in Flowers) but I found Sylvie to be irritating and tedious, I didn’t feel she had any chemistry with Tom Hiddleston, and given the short time they spent together couldn’t understand why he was so crazy about her. All of which meant that the…
I’ve no idea if 2016 is the best year for music but James Acaster is a superb stand up, I know he has a number of shows on Netflix but his most recent special “Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999" was absolutely stunning and one of the best I’ve ever seen.
I think Wellington Paranormal’s first six episode series is a little patchy, fine but nothing that special - but I’m so glad I stuck with it as I loved the second and third series a huge amount. And if you find yourself in a similar boat, to be honest you could watch the first episode and then skip forward to series 2…
It would be great if they got Trevor Einhorn back as Frederick as well, he was superb in The Magicians (and apparently Mad Men as well, though I never got in to that) and definitely has the acting chops.
He has his own wikipedia page which suggests he’s doing okay: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Kearney
I googled it and it seems that some go on to have great careers, some crash and burn, but the majority live uneventful lives. https://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/2015/05/20/the-benefits-and-pressures-of-being-a-young-genius/often-child-prodigies-do-not-grow-into-adult-genius /
Lovely stuff Will, have to say that whilst I was aware of who Dee Wallace was it’s been a long time since I’ve seen her in anything, and I had no idea what she’d be like in such an interview, but she gave great answers and it was a fascinating read.
Man I wish I’d checked the spelling in that post before publishing it. :(
I was born in the seventies but shown An American Werewolf when I was ten, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and A Clockwork Organge in my early teens, so when I finally got around to seeing The Exorcist I found it quite weak and un-affecting. And then I went a bit weird, because jesus, you shouldn’t show such films to…
I watched this for the first time about a month ago as a friend tried to persuade me it was actually a pretty fun movie (he lied, it is not, at any point) and I think you’re giving the writers too much credit there, it’s just a lazy, lazy story thrown together with very little thought indeed. And even that’s quite the…
Likewise, and if someone had spoilt it for me I’d have been infuriated.
But then I’m like that with all spoilers, and have always found when I’ve avoided them I’ve enjoyed something more.
My viewing choices so far:
Dave Made A Maze - I watched this because I adore James Urbaniak, but it’s definitely a flawed piece. I was in a shockingly sympathetic mood so quite enjoyed it, but I can also understand why some would hate it.
Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Podcast - The Harry Shearer interview - which…
According to wikipedia the next six episodes won’t air until 2018, and there isn’t a more specific date than that, but I too hope it isn’t too long before they do.
I wish that was the case but earlier on in the series Alexandria brags about still having armies, and enormous ones at that, so I don’t know why they suddenly wouldn’t have. Despite The Hand’s issues with “The Substance” surely they’d still have their day to day drug running / human trafficking / weapons dealing…
