I was enormously disappointed by this, the conversations between Murray and Jones are bland and uninspired, and though it has the odd amusing moment the majority of the time it’s discourse between characters I didn’t really care about, and it doesn’t say anything that many, many other tv series and films have said

It’s obviously just a difference of opinion but this was a B+ for me and I enjoyed it a bit more than Jesse did, there’s the odd lazy gag but most of the time I found it very funny, the satirical elements made me laugh hard and the silliness was often a delight.

I adore Jonathan Strange but only quite liked Piranesi, it’s a fascinating read but I had some minor issues with it. I’ll wait until next week before saying anything further though, as I don’t want to spoil it for you in any way.

They released a pro-shot version of the London stage version of this early on in the UK lockdown on youtube, it was only available for a week sadly or I’d post a link, but it was a thing of real joy and I hope the film version can capture that. It certainly looks like it does, and though it’s doubtful I’ll see it at

I’m with you 100% there. Apart from being quite upbeat, the only defining characteristic is her desire to have a family around her, and that’s not exactly led to any exciting or interesting storylines.

I disagree with you when it comes to Jodie, I think she’s great in the role, she’s just been let down by some terrible scripts and never had the chance to shine (or be that Doctor-y, either). Otherwise I agree with you though, and I really hated the revisions to the Doctor’s back story, and think Chibnall is easily

Re: “but their drinks are weaker” - That’s definitely the case with some pubs and bars, but it depends where you drink, the more tourist-y places tend to be rip offs, but the quieter, oft the beaten track venues (usually) serve decent strength alcohol.

He’s also right about our comedy scene, it seems to get the best

So many shows are back filming I’m really confused by the suggestion it will cause problems with Bob’s Burgers, I mean surely you can get the cast in one room and maintain the one or two meter rule (I’m not sure what it is in America right now) without any issues.

I’ve only seen the first episode so far but I found it quite dull. Yes, he’s a horrific human being, and of course it’s terrible that he’s conned so many people, but everything that we were told about him in that first episode could have been covered in fifteen minutes, there was a painful amount of repetition and the

I thought that, it was really unpleasant and shitty thing to say given the circumstances - the AV Club really used to be so much better than this, but depressingly it seems to be getting worse and worse of late.

Likewise, I find it so warm hearted and kind spirited, and it’s a show that’s perfect for these currently horrible times.

I agree, he is stunning in the series, I just wish I didn’t hate Hughie so much, and find him such an entitled, annoying spoilt brat (and very, very different to how he is in the comics) as because I dislike him so much I’m really struggling with this second season.

As I said below, I’m not saying I can’t watch things he’s in, but I have no time for his views or opinions any more.

Add me to the list of Ted Lasso fans, I didn’t expect it to be anything special after having seen the original promos the character is, but it’s such a warm and sweet series it’s impossible not to like.

Oh I can watch him perform and have no issue, it only comes down to a difference in political views after all, but I now have no time for him if I see him interviewed in real life, etc.

Re: John Ratzenberger’s dumb opinions - Dagnammit, I’d somehow managed to avoid hearing these until now, but a quick look at both his wikipedia page and a couple of interviews means he’s been added to the (depressingly long) list of people I used to like but now have no time for.

As a big fan of the British original I was hoping this would be a success, if only because then it might run for long enough to provide a satisfying ending. But the review (which I thought was superbly written btw, and please get Roxana back for more) has put me off watching a single second of it.

I saw it at the cinema in the early afternoon and was still troubled by it at the end of the day so I can only imagine how grim it was to watch something so late.

It’s also the only time I’ve ever stared at the floor during a film, as during the rape scene I found it unbearable to watch after a few minutes and it was

Exactly, and it’s not as if there aren’t a depressing amount of those already. Either way I think I’m done with Noe now, I hated Climax so much that reviews of a new movie from him would have to be astoundingly positive for me to give it a shot.
