I only discovered Reefer Madness a couple of years ago but love it to pieces now, it’s quickly become one of my favourite musicals and I’m so glad he enjoyed making it so much. And thanks for yet another fantastic Random Roles, Will, I enjoyed it an enormous amount.

The Chris Langham situation was really depressing for me as I loved that first series of The Thick Of It, along with the Paul Whitehouse collaboration Help. The fact that he was found to have only downloaded material on one occasion made his “Doing it to research a character” defence sound vaguely plausible too, but

Easily one of the best ever for me, I liked Clancy before but now I want to marry him and kiss him lots.

I’m really fond of Sean Lock but always feel a bit frustrated that he never followed 15 Storeys High with another sitcom and mainly did panel shows instead. But his stand up is still great and he’s definitely someone who makes me laugh a lot.

Holy Motors

Love, Exposure

Amelie

Harold and Maude

Number six here. Oh wait, no, I was thinking of Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci.

I couldn’t agree more, whilst British tv comedy is all kinds of shaky right now the stand up scene is pretty superb, if you ever get the chance to see Joseph Morpurgo I’d recommend doing so as he’s astonishingly funny and inventive. I’m also a big, big fan of Kim Noble, Stewart Lee, Daniel Kitson, Tim Key, Rachel

And Carl! Set in the afterlife and it’ll be a buddy comedy you’ll never forget!

And that The Trial is a disturbing and claustrophobic masterpiece that deserves a ridiculous amount of acclaim.

I also love his Othello, but I know some have issues with him playing the role and I can understand why.

But also fuck The AV Club for posting such a horrible video.

I largely agree but would grade it slightly differently:

1: C-
2: B+
3: A
4: A
5: A-
6: B
7: B-
8: C (I know, but I have a soft spot for James Spader)
9: C-

It’s frustrating that we still get Modern Family reviews (a show I once liked, but that’s a long time ago now) and not regular recaps for this.

“The set shaking when a door closed” thing is a bit of an urban myth, the show was undoubtedly cheap but it wasn’t that bad (though it is true of some dodgy soap operas, like Crossroads). And Tom Baker’s era was of course during the 70s / very early 80s, whereas Gormenghast aired in 2000 and looked bloody impressive

I felt that way, especially given the circumstances where a difficult birth could lead to the death of the mother.

And I didn’t understand why Todd didn’t ask Carol, as presumably you’d have thought the idea might have crossed his mind.

I took it to mean that vaginal sex was off the table but anal was on offer. As always though I could be very wrong.

I’m just back from seeing Isle of Dogs now and it is an extremely likeable film (filled with loads of good dogs!) with a beautiful design ethic, but I wouldn’t say it’s that funny, just incredibly charming.

Initially I had mixed feelings about giving the second season a shot as the first season had been hit and miss, but the second is a great improvement and I loved it a lot too.

It sounds like it could be fun, but unless it’s partially a musical it’ll be no way as good as The Lure, the recent murderous Mermaid film - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5278832/

You should move to England, it’s cheap to buy on dvd over here. Or just buy a multi-region player. Whatever’s easiest.

He’s been directing a lot of Nickelodeon tv series and films, though if any are connected to Dan Schneider I just don’t know.

A couple of years ago rumour had it that he was trying to find funding to make another proper comedy film again, but I don’t know if he’s still trying to seek finance for it.
