Until I saw all these comments I assumed that "beefed it" was a well known saying.

I was surprised by how watchable his Justice League cut was, but I was mostly surprised because of how unwatchable BvS was. It’s one of the few movies I hope to never have to sit through again. Incredibly bad might be off when discussing his overall DC output, but when it gets bad it gets really, really, really bad.

Really? I laughed straight through that first episode. There was a point in the prank show sketch where I couldn’t breathe I was laughing so hard.

Good point. I tend to ignore those people because they’re wrong :-)

Eh. They greenlit a bad third movie, but everything up until then had been pretty great. If Rise of Skywalker had worked out better nobody would be complaining right now about plans or the lack thereof.

Now playing

I found them recently thanks to the Weekly Planet Podcast (which is also very good). I highly recommend checking out their stuff on YouTube. They’ve got some really fantastic sketches out there already and I’m excited for the series.

This is my new favorite holiday.

Right? This doesn’t seem like a problem to me.

I get it. You need to strike a balance between getting your stuff to people who want to read it and being able to pay the bills. I’m sure it’s a tough balancing act. I’m definitely one of those readers who sometimes weeps for the AV Club that once was (I still remember reading an interview with the Kids in the Hall in

Yup! Look, AV Club, I get it. You want to maximize your ad revenue. Slideshows give you all those sweet, sweet ad bucks. But does the slideshow deter enough people to negate that extra ad revenue? I don’t know. I don’t have your traffic numbers. Only you know that.

Hooray for responsive design!

A Star Wars movie released by the people who hold the rights to Star Wars that takes place in the world of Star Wars and feature Star Wars characters is a Star Wars movie no matter how much you liked it. I’m sure I could point to plenty of Star Wars fans who enjoyed it and you could point to plenty who didn’t, but

I think it’s absolutely the best in the series. Empire and A New Hope aren’t far behind, although it’s much better than Return of the Jedi (I rewatched that one recently and was surprised to find that the middle is kind of bad).

Come on now. Johnson “didn’t take the responsibility of a Star Wars movie seriously”? Sorry but that’s nonsense. You can say that you didn’t care for The Last Jedi. You can say that the decisions Johnson made don’t really work for you. That’s fine. That’s all completely defensible. It’s also all just opinion.

Yup!

It’s funny, you’re listing all these things about TLJ like they’re proof that Rian Johnson had no idea what he was doing and the movie is a complete failure. Meanwhile I’m nodding at how they’re all the reasons I love that movie.

Bingo. Snoke wasn’t the primary villain of the new trilogy. Ren was. He was on a journey to surpass his master and become the new Supreme Leader of the First Order. Sure, he was still conflicted and there was still good in him and blah blah blah, but they got scared going into Rise of Skywalker and undid the two most

It definitely shows that Rian Johnson had more time to work on TLJ than JJ had for TFA. Everything in TLJ is so much more complex and well developed. It’s a really impressive follow up that builds on what came before and goes in new and exciting directions.

This might be the most savage comment in the history of Kinja.

Shut up, Paul. You probably love your mother-in-law.
