You could say the same for Hawkeye over at Marvel. Cyborg might not be a household name but he’s also not the main draw. He’s a supporting player who could step up and play a bigger role later on. But Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman are arguably bigger than any Marvel character not named Spider-Man or Wolverine.

Maybe I’m just misremembering the episode, but don’t they say that the virtual afterlife is so enticing that they’ve had to put laws in place so that people don’t just start ending their own lives so they can end up in digital heaven? And isn’t that intravenous injection of lethal fluids a medically necessary (or at

Part of me wants to say that this is cruel and a terrible thing to do to an animal and rant about how terrible smoking is in general, and then I remember that this orangutan is living in a zoo. Go nuts, Odon. They already took your freedom, no reason to take your cigarettes, too.

That’s a good point. The kids are genuinely shocked when Jack insults them. The principal is hurt when Jack acts like a prick. It’s like when someone on a TV show makes a joke and the other characters actually laugh. If someone is funny on purpose the people around them should react.

I don’t see anything in the review that calls it “white counter-programming.” Just counter-programming. Maybe they edited the article, but I’ll just assume that you added the white part.

“Using VR to dupe olds into offing themselves with promises of digi-heaven” is a crazy misreading of San Junipero.

I listened to all of it today. It is fantastic.

That opinion is unpopular for a very good reason :-)

Snark is the default mode around here. Snyder just happens to be someone who’s incredibly easy to snark about.

And it was glorious.

It’s pretty impossible to predict what will hit and what will miss, but that Good Girls trailer does look pretty great. And with that cast I’ll definitely be checking it out.

I’m not sure how they do it these days, but that was pretty standard for FX back then. They would start out by running weird little 15 second teasers that were super vague and often weren’t directly connected to the show being advertised. Then once they had some actual footage they would start airing an actual ad.

Seeing as how the Porgs are his buddies for the rest of the movie I think the movie is at least implying that he decided against eating them.

What about it did you find politically despicable?

Does he not toss it aside? That’s how I remember it going, but then there were people who swore that the top didn’t wobble at all at the end of Inception so it’s hard to say. Memory can be funny.

I don’t make a habit of it, but if I’m watching something on my tablet it’s usually because I’m lying in bed. And based on the viewing distance the tablet screen is as big or bigger, relatively speaking, than my 60" TV. It’s not the ideal viewing experience but I’m surprised when people dismiss it completely.

He almost ate some roast Porg, but he seemed to have a change of heart.

That’s fair. I believe I’ve seen those same movies you listed more than once. Probably the original Iron Man and Avengers as well. Not sure about the rest of the MCU, but I more or less enjoyed all of Marvel’s output (give or take a Thor: The Dark World) even if I didn’t feel the need to watch any of it again.

It always fascinates me when I run across someone who loves BvS. I saw it in the theater and checked out the Ultimate Edition when it hit bluray and the only way I think I’d watch it again is with a lot of alcohol. I mean a lot.

And that might be the best scene in the whole movie.
