I hate when people say “are you new here?”. One could just agree without needing to add that. I’ve been here for about 12 years, but still question things. Yes, I KNOW HOW IT IS. But saying Jez should do better is perfectly reasonable.

I already see a mix of terrible reactions:

Fuck Asia. Also she knew full well she was going to damage the Me Too movement after making that rape settlement but she kept going out there as a spokesperson. And fuck her for not only assaulting but for publically gaslighting that man.

I feel like there should be a way to have a nuanced conversation about abusers also being victims. For example, the priests raping children are part of a multi-century system of abuse. It obviously doesn’t excuse what they’ve done, but it also feels like we can’t address abuse until we also address the system and…

I am about the same age as Argento. There are zero reasons for someone her age to be alone in a hotel room with a 17 year old, unless it’s a family member. Whatever story she’s trying to sell, she should just stop. 

...AND apparently the son was raped in this movie, as though this whole situation weren’t already disturbing enough on plenty of other levels.

There’s no exculpating your way out of the kid being 17.

I hope the good things she has done will still carry weight with anyone who isn’t just looking to score partisan “gotcha” posts. But I’m not optimistic.

Yeah, bad people can be rape victims, too.  Hell, rapists can be rape victims.
