Most of the weddings I’ve been to as an adult had kids and it wasn’t really a big deal. They’ve all been pretty standard catered reception with dinner and dancing weddings. It did seem like it was most folks who had to travel, though, that ended up bringing young children.
This article seems to have been written by someone who either hasn’t watched South Park in a while or hasn’t been watching it in good faith.
I didn’t realize he had a podcast, I’ll have to check that out.
I agree with you re: Larry Wilmore. He struggled to find the right format for his show, and I think he would have done better just rolling with the Daily Show format and adjusting it slowly to fit his style. I also think he’d be better at interviews than moderating those panels.
Yeah. Obama was criticized for this too. Fairly imo, but this isn’t really a sign of anything “new” with the trump admin.
But isn’t that what the page of the textbook pictured is doing? Illustrating an example? The tweet misconstrues that somewhat, but it reads to me like a joke at his expense (poor baby) . . . certainly the implication in the textbook is that what Turner did fits within the textbook definition (which suggests to me that…
What do you mean? I’m not sure how illustrating one scenario as pretty clear cut example of rape would affect other victims?
I’m not sure sure he did immediately take steps to correct his fault. I mean, someone on twitter said, “remember that time you sexually assaulted me?” And he said, “No, but that seems like the kind of thing I’d do.” And only after that, apparently, sought “help.” This suggests to me a likely pattern of behavior that…
Unfortunately, I think the more likely scenario is that someone on his communications team forgot to switch his account over from the work one and liked the porn tweet (this is what happened when Allen West retweeted scissor sisters: it was an intern).
And the kid wouldn’t be underage in Italy, where the film is set, or in many U.S. states (in mine the age of consent is 17).
Hitting on someone who isn’t old enough isn’t really the issue . . . I think it’s replying “even better” to the child once you are informed of their true age. Then it starts to suggest that he’s seeking teenagers, rather than mistakenly hitting on a teen who looks like she’s in her 20s.
A few more than usual did refer to trump (most used the phrase, “the president”) directly in this instance. McCain, Graham, Jeff Flake, Marco Rubio, Jerry Moran, Ed Royce, Leonard Lance, Will Hurd, and Jeb Bush all did. Still not enough — I’ll agree with you there.
Well, one thing to note about the swastika is it was also used in western antiquity — lots of roman mosaics included the symbol — so it’s use was never exclusively eastern, though it was less ubiquitous in the west. Apparently the Nazis picked the symbol after excavations of ancient Greek archeological sites helped…
He was called out by numerous politicians, including many Republicans not named Graham or McCain, for his Charlottesville remarks. I think the issue is Republican dissent seems to stop at calling him out . . .
I had a teacher in high school who taught an asian studies course and had a Jain swastika displayed in the classroom. It really didn’t inspire the kind of revulsion that a Hakenkreuz on a red flag would. In fact, I don’t think anyone was offended by it, given the context in which it was displayed.
I feel like the iron cross, which is the one the nazis used, is pretty recognizable and reviled as a nazi symbol. The ones christians put up in their homes and churches usually look a bit different.
Yeah. In some parts of asia (but mostly thailand) there’s a weird a-historical fascination with hitler: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_imagery_in_Thailand
His situation is admittedly unusual though seeing as the Nazis also bombed the fuck outta his hometown and people have made entire movies about how anti-nazi his great-granddad and pro-nazi his great-granduncle were. Not that that justifies the costume, but he’s in a slightly different position vis a vis nazis than,…
