I just watched The Drop again recently. Flawed (but good!) movie, but man, Hardy and Matthias Schoenaerts (who I think is about Hardy’s age) are terrific. And that kid from Animal Kingdom (James Frechville? I think I’m spelling his name wrong . . .) is really good in a smaller role.

I love this. Also — that is the face my cat makes when he pees.

I watch Morning Joe sometimes, and was watching this morning. They’re definitely not just reporting the news — they know he watches and are actively baiting him. Which, honestly, is pretty hilarious, especially because Trump is just going to walk right into it, but Mika isn’t quite in the same position here as, say,

I see what you’re saying, and mostly agree with you, but I’d make the distinction less between clergy as The Church and laypeople, and more between clergy-in-positions-of-power and everyone else. Cause the thing for me is, the good laypeople and good local priests still are The Church, but so are the

Not-quite-lapsed-but-bad-at-being-Catholic here. I think there is goodness in the church, but also a lot of corruption and abuse. One thing I keep in mind is that, doctrinally, the church is not just the vatican, but also the people of the catholic church. At the parish level there are a lot of good people

I get Kenny wanting to have the last word, but Lee’s whole game was to bait Kenny because getting a rise out of Kenny is satisfying to Lee. Kenny wasn’t ‘wrong’ to do it, but it was exactly what Lee wanted. Just don’t give people like Lee the satisfaction of knowing they got to you — then they lose their power.

I for one think this is a big win for the bald(ing) community.

Ah, man. Yeah, there’s just no pleasing some people — regardless of their field. I hope your sister does ok though.

Yeah, I mean, the folks I know still deal with a lot of uncertainty, but it seems like much less so than people in other genres, since at the very least they’re extremely competent in their chosen instrument and can fall back on teaching if they have to, which isn’t as interesting as performing (or as lucrative when

Yeah. I guess Omorosa is working in the White House know, so who am I to say . . .

It seems like that might be the case with people working in more popular genres, but there many musicians working outside of pop (using this term in the broadest sense possible) who aren’t necessarily famous but can reliably make a better living than 30k/year (though they aren’t wealthy either, and others do still

Is this comment assuming something about potential economic incentives for struggling musicians? Or fame incentives for unknown musicians? I actually do know quite a few musicians.

I think it’s highly likely that they both get kicked off tonight. Unless the producers decide to keep him around for like, one more episode so the rest of the cast can turn against him in a more open way than they have, but I don’t think they can milk too much more out of the Lee plotline.

I mean, I assume their living expenses are taken care of while they’re on the show, but apparently they don’t make anything beyond that for the Bachelor/Bachelorette (the Bachelor/Bachelorette, by contrast, makes 100k). I think the BIP people do make something between 10k-20k, which isn’t a lot of money for, like, a

I assume they’re on it for fame, which is why I’m confused as to why Lee thinks this branding will help him. Though, as Akat101 pointed out, maybe it’s to appeal to racists.

Kenny seems like a really good guy, but he doesn’t know how to disengage.

I have grown to like reddit. It has some dark corners to be sure, but the upvote/downvote system tends to take care of trolls on all the mainstream subs much more effectively than any other commenting platform I’ve seen/participated on. And I’ve seen people there get presented with persuasive contrary arguments and

Lena Dunham is fully capable of giving obnoxious interviews, but does she ever openly bitch about people she works with? That seems like a big part of the Miller/Heigel thing — openly shitting on projects you’re involved in — not just getting on people’s nerves. The only person I’ve heard talk about working with her

The elevator video is kind of incredible. I think the family originally posted it in an effort to make the hotel look bad, but considering this video can now only be found by searching “trashy family stuck in elevator” it backfired pretty gloriously. I mean yeah getting stuck in an elevator is a pain, but if you care
