Comedians should never have to apologize for jokes. Ever. Period. Not Dave Chappelle, not Louis CK, not Pete Davidson, not George Carlin, not Lenny Bruce, not Bill Hicks, not even Gallagher.

I knew it runs counter to the prevailing Woke shithead dogma, but it is absolutely possible to be racist against white people. People like Louis Farrakhan are living proof.

Imagine a world in which all this performatively defiant chest-pumping against Dave Chappelle actually managed to make a difference like, say, preventing him (or Netflix) from producing more comedy specials making fun of trans people.

Such complete and utter bullshit, tell you what, as soon as the LGBTQ+ community start treating EACH OTHER with respect and dignity, maybe they can start telling others how to treat them. You don’t like Dave or Netflix?? Don’t watch Dave or Netflix. Easy motherfuckin’ Peezy.

Fuck ‘em if they can’t take a joke. I can’t think of a single demographic Chappelle hasn’t made fun of at one time or another. God knows he goes hard on white people. You don’t see us whining like bitches about it. And if there *are* white people whining like bitches about it then fuck them, too. They’re. Just.

He has the right to EXPRESS a point of view, even if it’s a point of of view he doesn’t ascribe to personally. As a comic, he chooses to express it because it will make people laugh. He’s hilarious.

GLAAD has now issued a condemnation of the special, which includes a loud declaration from Chappelle that he’s “Team TERF!” in addition to other transphobic material.

So, I can side with Dave Chappelle, an extremely likable comedian with a heart as big as Jupiter, who brings laughter and joy to countless millions of people when the world constantly appears to be on the brink of collapse, or I can side with those that give me nothing but grief because I don’t refer to them as “xir”

Comedians like Chappelle are often drawn to what they’re told they can’t say. It’s what can make them great and awful at the same time. So this isn’t surprising at all.

So... I recognize that to those that his jokes are pointed at it doesn’t make up for him being mean in their general direction, but did anybody watch long enough to see the ending, where he also goes out of his way to describe his lament over losing a dear trans friend of his that he respected to suicide, specifically

What IS it about trans people that makes idiots so hungry for their own feet?

Well as long as you are SURE you have pretty astute observations - you must be right.
I’m self-assessed as an astute observer as well - and I think you’re unfairly using violence against trans women to condemn someone you don’t like.

Its like AV didnt even watch the whole show and only saw clips of it that fit the narrative. DO BETTER.....

I’m now going to watch his special to make my own opinion.  I generally agree with Dave, so now I need to know more.  Was that this piece’s intent?

He is not.  If u watch the special Dave points out the hypocrisy of certain movements. It seems to have gone over certain people’s heads and also to have proved his point.

Huh. I thought it was pretty funny. Not his best, but a decent effort.

Sounds like Chappelle's up to his old tricks again! Ha ha. Chappelle is a wonder!

Comedians are like cars - the old ones are nice because you remember where you were when you first drove it, but once they’re past a certain age the reason you keep them around is more nostalgia than performance

So he lives in a little town in Ohio not far from me about all of the shop there have signs in their windows thanking him. Apparently he did a lot for the time during the pandemic and is super nice if you run in to him.

I like Dave Chappelle.
