The difference is that the skip shift condition was always in place, when X and Y happened it kept you from shifting to 2nd, this was true in the test and the real world.

The difference may be as little as having your trickery out in the open (like skip shift) as opposed to hidden in some code (like this software mode for the transmission), but we’ll have to see.
