The New York City transit system doesn't use tickets. :P We use Metro Cards and you can put however much you want on a single Metro Card... It would be very environmentally irresponsible to buy 2,500 individual Metro Cards in lieu of a Segway.

To echo what Silverback said....apparently you missed the cables tied from the canopy to the base of the fans. Birds will hit the cables before they hit the blades.
