All this 'green' architecture oogling really does make me sick. The one failure of many green architects and the focus of the press, Gizmodo not excluded, has been lauding the often expensive 'green' measures, which isn't to say some aren't worth the cost, but they are often the only things that make them green.

HFS Plus, the default file system in modern Mac OS X installations, has no limit to the folder depth, but NTFS for Windows does. exFAT for Windows does not have this limitation and also has native read, write, and create support from Mac OS 10.6.5. [en.wikipedia.org]

Yeah, that and the disco record shop and the graffiti-riddled subway train. Probably late 70s since graffiti vandalism picked up in the 70s as the City went broke and severe budget cuts were made to the MTA.

I vote this the greenest advance in metallurgy this side of the year 2000. If made affordable and used to replace plastic in as many applications where possible, we could effectively reduce the amount of petroleum that goes into new plastic production (instead of driving our cars, heating our homes, fueling our power

Here's an excellent paper on how LEED is broken in that way and many others. You'll feel especially vindicated if you're getting tired of this greenwashing crap, most of which is actually more feel-good environmentalism that is unsustainable.

WHY DON'T WE UPVOTE COMMENTS???? We should be able to float comments up instead of having a bunch of other people say the same thing over and over for the next 5 pages of comments...aaaanyway...

Just a couple of prototypes from their unmanned, self-aware stealth fighter...

@Mooncheez: New York City will have its own, more utilized Calatrava masterpiece when the transit center is finally finished at the World Trade Center site - admittedly, the structure has yet to reach surface-level. That said, it won't be part of a severely over-budget highway project that has only served to increase

Really couldn't care less about the app, but the sample person they use is awesome. In fact, I may just get the app on the off chance that I'll run into Mr. David Bowman, himself...

Ah yes, the critical problem with giving things away for free. I find myself trying to explain this every issue of demand vs capacity in terms of transport (roads and transit specifically) almost every day.

Even with (a system like) GE's RNP enabled, wouldn't some of our highest trafficked airports still require stacks and queues to manage air traffic at high volume?

@Blake380: That was the firs thing that popped into my head, especially after looking at the graphic below the video on the original site...

Make the screens smaller, rotate it 90 degrees about the Z axis and gimme mah COURIER. Seriously.

@Almightywhacko: Absolutely - dealing with security is but one element of the whole air travel experience, but I question how many people associate their experience with the TSA with their experience with the airlines. There's a very discrete changeover in attitude and tone from check-in and security screening and

As an RPI student, I occasionally had to fly out of Albany International and it was always absurd how lax their procedures were there. Ms. Walker makes subtle allusion to the inconsistencies in the TSA's execution of policies and procedures, but I'd like to highlight the severe inconsistencies from airport to airport,

@Almightywhacko: Unfortunately, the airlines are primarily concerned with the customer experience between gates and not much else. Arline passengers are a pretty captive audience since high speed rail doesn't exist as a widely available alternative to air travel and driving is relatively slow and can be impractical

@iridius: This is effectively what LaHood repeatedly advocates for on his blog and said in the full quote, but The Daily Caller just wants to engage in sensationalist journalism and this affiliate author just happens to be following through...

Wow, this really is getting out of hand. Secretary LaHood posted on his blog saying the quote was taken out of context and what was quoted was not the ultimate message he was trying to get out:

This really makes me want to have a house/condo to renovate with these Silestone quartz counters just to throw fruits and quarts crystal formations at it...
